There are few things that delight a sense of smell more than freshly baked bread and other baked goods. That might be what the developers of a new condo building in Chicago were thinking when they turned a former Nabisco factory into a set of luxury apartments.
The apartment, at 1000 West Washington Boulevard in Chicago’s West Loop is an impressive feat of remodeling. The original factory was constructed in the early 1900’s and used primarily for production of the company’s Uneeda Biscuit. The Nabisco factory had long been abandoned by the time it was purchased and reconstruction began in 1995.
For enthusiasts of snack machines and the delicious treats they vend, what could be better than living in the very rooms and ovens of a factory that produced such an iconic snack. The one catch is that this deliciously decorated apartment is currently on sale for $499,500. Due to some legal issues, this rent is actually $100k-$150k less than similarly-sized listings in the area.
The condo unit for sale is quite impressive though with 2,000 square feet, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private rooftop deck. Even though eVending is in the business of making fine vending machines, real-estate news about vending snack companies doesn’t come around too often!
