eVendingWhether you have been following our blog or have simply taken a look at the vending machines around you lately, it is clear the vending industry is evolving at a rapid pace. In celebration of the growth of the vending business, Tulane University recently hosted a “Gratitude Event” that allowed consumers to enjoy free refreshments and test out some of the industry’s new technology.

Gratitude events are generally meant to be a “thank you” to consumers, which in this case were vending machine customers aged 18-29 who have been proven to prefer drink and snack vending machines over convenience stores. The National Automatic Merchandising Association, or NAMA, was on hand to educate the public about the current vending options at their disposal. Top brands such as Keurig, Coca-Cola, and Red Bull were all present to provide hands-on demonstrations of their latest vending products. Some of the all-new technology on display included advanced touchscreen capability, as well as the ability to make a purchase with the simple swipe of a mobile phone.

This recent gratitude event is just one of the many testaments to the ever-expanding vending machine business. Looking to get in on the excitement? Our affordable combo vending machines are an excellent place to start!

eVendingWe are huge fans of vending innovations here at eVending, and a recent story on the Vending Times could not help but catch our attention. The new “CAT rack” bulk operator makes using small candy and gumball vending machines easier than ever, while no longer limiting their customer base to those who have a few loose quarters around.

Short for Currency Activated Technology, the CAT rack acts as a central hub for a series of small snack vending machines. Customers can insert a dollar bill into the rack, after which they can freely choose which vending machine they would like to receive a treat from. Novelty vending machines such as the ones found in movie theaters and supermarkets typically force consumers to find somewhere to make change, but the CAT rack finally makes the dollar useable with a quarter machine. The device is currently being tested in upper Manhattan, New York.

While this device is only being tested on mini vending machines, the potential of the CAT rack is endless. The CAT’s creator would like the product to evolve to the point of cashless transactions and become compatible with new point of sale methods. Could this device ever tie together a network of our vending machines for sale? We shall wait and see!

eVendingIf you are as enthusiastic about the vending industry as we are here at eVending, you have likely read up on dozens of new vending innovations ranging from caviar combo vending machines to novelty devices that dish out used books. Well, much like the industry itself, the creativity of the vending world is far from its limit, as a recent 83 Degrees article reveals that new machines in Tampa, Florida will be selling good old fashioned art to its customers.

Modern vending machines have essentially condensed the convenience of a full-on retail store into a small device, so it is only natural that an art retailer can now enjoy the same transformation. After winning Awesome Tampa Bay’s microgrants program, Daniel Markovich is now transforming outdated sticker vending machines into mini stores for all types of visual art. Set to include prints, sticker art, and photographs, these innovative machines will allow Tampa artists to reach their audience in an all-new way.

“With so many talented people very often overlooked, I sought out to find a way to help distribute their work that is fun, affordable and engaging,” said Markovich.

We love hearing about new creations such as Markovich’s brainchild, and we look forward to seeing how this unique art dispenser pans out. If you are inspired by his vision and want to become part of the vending industry at a basic snack and drink level, browse our selection of vending machines for sale today!

eVendingWhether you have been keeping up with recent vending news or have simply taken a look at the machines around you, one thing is clear: healthy vending is here to stay. There are plenty of low-calorie snacks that make a suitable replacement to the typical greasy treats found in most snack vending machines, and machine owners and operators are starting to make big changes. In Asheville, North Carolina, it is not just vending machine companies making big changes: seventh grade students have been putting their algebra studies to work by coming up with ways to make the vending experience both satisfying and calorie conscious.

Evergreen Community Charter School has been named a Green Ribbon school for its commitment to healthy and environmentally-friendly products, and the school has been using its own students to figure out the healthy vending guidelines for new machines. Students were tasked with figuring out things such as pricing, environmental impact, and types of snacks that would fit into a combo vending machine. The school has already met Green Ribbon guidelines for its hot lunches, and is well on its way towards implementing them into vending machines. If you are looking to start a healthy, eco-friendly vending movement of your own, our vending machines for sale make a great place to start!

Red BullWhether you have been following the eVending blog or have been keeping up with current vending trends, it is clear that healthy vending is here to stay. Different areas are creating regulations on certain snacks and beverages in combo vending machines, and Canada has been the latest to put a lid on overly sugary drinks.

According to the Vending Times, Canada’s health department has created new rules regarding the caffeine content of energy drinks. All drinks can only have a maximum of 180 mg. of caffeine, which is the average amount found in an 8 oz. cup of coffee. These regulations require that all energy drinks clearly list the caffeine and nutritional contents right on the package, as well as a warning that energy drinks should not be consumed by children, pregnant women, and those drinking alcohol. These changes should not affect major energy drink distributors such as Red Bull, and are likely targeted towards new energy drink brands that deliver excessive amounts of caffiene. Energy drinks have been associated with several deaths and heart problems over the past ten years, and Canada’s new regulations aim to minimize these complications.

Whether your state mandates it or not, it is never a bad idea to monitor the caffeine contents of your combo vending machines. Keeping your clients refreshed should be a priority, but helping them stay healthy should be an even bigger one.
