Beauty product giant, L’Oréal Paris was the latest big-name brand to make a splash in the vending machine marketing trend and picked a location that most vending machine operators can only dream about. After striking a first-ever deal with New York City’s Metro-Transit Authority, the organization that runs the city’s public transportation, L’Oréal has launched its branded vending kiosk at the 42nd Street-Bryant Park station, one of the busiest stations in the city.
The campaign for this vending machine will run through November and December and will cost $700,000 to $1 million; now that’s an expensive vending machine! According to the MTA, more than 4 million people will go through the station during that time period. eVending can only guess at the number of sales the machine will have, but more importantly, the branding potential of this machine is what will make it worth the costs.
